December 2023 – Karleigh Bembry

Why did you choose to dual enroll at NFC? I chose to dual enroll at NFC because it was offered to me during my ninth-grade year at Hamilton County High School. It was a great opportunity that I will always encourage anyone to do if they have the chance. It has aided me in learning how to manage my time and understand what universities are expecting. Overall, it is an amazing opportunity to be able to take free college classes and explore some of my interests before I have to choose my major.

Which class have you enjoyed the most at NFC? I have enjoyed Mr. Welch's American History Classes because he presented the material in a fun and engaging way each time, we had class. One could tell just by speaking to him that he didn’t just teach history, but he truly loves his job and history as a whole. His excitement and understanding of the concepts he presented allowed me to better grasp the information which led me to do well on each assignment and test.

How is NFC helping you reach your goals? NFC is helping me reach my goals by allowing me to start my AA degree during high school. The college has given me a head start on my future and I could not be more grateful. Although it can be challenging to juggle being a high school and dual enrollment student. NFC and my guidance counselor have teamed up throughout the years to assist me in any way they can. Furthermore, NFC has given me tremendous help and resources to excel in each class that I take through them.

What are your goals after High School? My goal after high school is to continue my education at NFC to complete my AA. Then I want to transfer to a University where I will pursue Ultrasound Technology and later become an Ultrasound Technician.

Who at NFC has inspired you the most? Mr. Welch has inspired me the most because his of love for history and teaching. When I was taking his American History class he knew how to engage with the class, Mr. Welch would find a way to make hard concepts easier to understand. During each lecture, he would capture our attention with his jokes and big personality. What I liked best was that he was open to helping me whenever I needed it and loved answering all the questions I had for him.
