Career and Workforce Education

The Money-Back Guarantee Program was created by the Florida Legislature in 2021 with the Reimagining Education and Career Help (REACH) Act. Students who complete a program designated for the money-back guarantee and are not employed six months after graduation are now eligible to request a refund of their out-of-pocket tuition costs.

Student attendance – Students must be continuously enrolled full-time (as defined by the program) through the duration of the program and meet the enrollment verification standards each term (aka. No Show).

Student program performance – Student must successfully complete all required and recommended courses, earning a grade of C or better in all coursework. Students receiving a W, D, F, or I grade are not eligible. Students must remain in good standing throughout the duration of the program including not having an academic integrity violation or student code of conduct disciplinary record or sanctions. In addition, the student must pass all licensure exams associated with the program, within the time frame recommended by the program’s Dean/Director.

College and Career Transfer Center – Students must provide verifiable documentation as evidence of attendance and participation with Career and Transfer staff upon application for the guarantee. The student must provide verifiable documentation as evidence of the creation of and adherence to a career plan in conjunction with NFC’s College and Career Transfer Center.

Participation in internship or work-study program – As applicable, student must provide verifiable documentation of satisfactory participation in an internship or work-study program related to the degree for which the guarantee is being considered. All coursework involving clinical assignments must be satisfactory. Students who are reported as tardy, have unexcused absences, or who are written up for behavior deemed unprofessional at a clinical/internship site will be not be deemed eligible for this program.

Job Search Documentation – The student must be legally eligible for employment within the U.S. and must not have a criminal background that prevents employment within the career field. The student must provide verifiable documentation that they have registered with Employ Florida and worked with their local Career Source office to search for employment in the field of interest. The student must demonstrate through verifiable documentation they have been actively searching for in-field employment for at least 6 months from the date of program completion. This search must include the verifiable submission of at least 20 applications that are related to the field of study.

North Florida College offers several degree and certificate programs that prepare students to be eligible for professional licensure or certification for their chosen career.

The charts below provide information about how those programs offered at NFC meet requirements for out-of-state students enrolled from Georgia and Alabama. For students located outside Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, NFC has not determined whether these programs' curriculum meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification. Even when graduates are eligible for a national certification exam, individual states may have requirements beyond those mandated by Florida.

North Florida College has reviewed the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in Georgia and Alabama for the programs listed below:

*Alabama RN: NFC's Associate Degree Nursing program is ACEN accredited and has been determined to align with Alabama's educational requirements. NFC periodically reviews curriculum and clinical requirements to maintain this determination.

† Law Enforcement: NFC's Law Enforcement Academy is a Florida Law Enforcement Academy designed to prepare students for Florida certification. Graduates who subsequently obtain Florida law-enforcement certification may have pathways to certification in Georgia or Alabama through those states' equivalency/lateral-entry processes. Additional state-specific requirements apply.

All students who reside outside Florida or who intend to seek professional licensure or certification outside Florida are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate licensing agency in the state where they intend to practice before enrolling. Professional licensure and certification requirements are established by individual states and may change at any time. Students are responsible for understanding and satisfying all requirements for licensure or certification in the state in which they intend to practice.
