Sentinel Fest 2026 combines campus festivities with the grand opening of a $4.2 million
Community Center
MADISON, Fla. – Something big is happening at North Florida College, and this time, the whole community is part of the celebration. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, North Florida College opens its campus for Sentinel Fest 2026, a day of student activities, food, entertainment, and the official grand opening of the College's new $4.2 million Community Center.
NFC has a message for its neighbors across Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison,
Suwannee and Taylor counties: This place is for you. See what we've built.
The day begins with a festival for NFC students, faculty and staff. It wraps up with
an afternoon celebration open to the public, complete with food trucks, family activities,
entertainment, an open house and a ribbon-cutting.
But the biggest invitation isn't simply to celebrate. It's to discover what the new
Community Center could mean for the people who live and work in North Florida.
“Sentinel Fest is about bringing students and our community together to celebrate
what makes NFC special,” said Melanie Morgan, NFC director of student and community
engagement. “From student festivities to the ribbon cutting of our new Community Center,
it’s a celebration of what we’ve built together and the connections that will carry
us forward.”
A New Building. New Possibilities. Your Community.
For years, NFC has brought people together through education, workforce training,
cultural events and community partnerships. Now, the College is opening a new space
designed to make even more of those connections possible.
The 4,800-square-foot Community Center will offer public computers, high-speed internet,
private spaces for telehealth appointments and online meetings, a business hub, conference
facilities and flexible areas for workforce training and community education.
Need reliable internet to apply for a job? A professional space to meet with clients?
A private space for a virtual medical appointment? The new center is designed with
those everyday needs in mind. On Nov. 17, residents can walk through the doors, explore
the facility and see for themselves how they might use it.
The center represents a $4.2 million investment, supported by a $4 million award through
the Florida Capital Projects Fund – Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program and
additional local funding. Just over a year after breaking ground in October 2025,
NFC is ready to open the doors.
"We've spent a lot of time talking about what this center could bring to our communities,"
said NFC President Dr. Jennifer Page. " Whether you live in Madison or drive in from
one of our surrounding counties, we want you to feel welcome here. This is a place
for our communities to use, and we're excited to see what people will do with it."
Before the Ribbon Cutting, Let the Festivities Begin
NFC students get the first round of fun when Sentinel Fest takes over the Student
Center Quad from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunchtime festival will feature student games,
music, giveaways, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and a campus marketplace where
students can connect with clubs, organizations and campus resources.
The first 100 NFC students will also receive a free Sentinel Fest T-shirt. It's a
chance to put the books down for a little while, catch up with friends, meet someone
new and enjoy everything happening outside the classroom. Faculty and staff are invited
to join the fun.
It's North Florida's Turn at 3:00 p.m.
The afternoon celebration opens to the entire community. From 3 to 5 p.m., NFC invites
families, business owners, community organizations, alums and neighbors from across
its six-county district to experience the new Community Center.
Visitors may explore the building, enjoy food trucks, take part in family-friendly
activities and giveaways, and get a taste of the arts with a special preview of the
Sentinel Upstage Players upcoming musical Annie Jr. from 3:40 to 3:55 p.m. College and community leaders will gather at 4:30 p.m. for
the official ribbon-cutting.
Six Counties. One Community. Plenty to Celebrate.
For NFC, the Sentinel Fest celebration is more than bricks, mortar and a new building.
It's about the students who have found their footing at the College, the families
who have cheered them on, the businesses that have partnered with NFC and the communities
that have supported the College for generations.
The day's theme, "Celebrate What We've Built," recognizes those connections while
looking ahead to what comes next. Whether you've spent years on NFC's campus or have
never visited before, Nov. 17 is a good day to change that.
Bring the family or invite a neighbor. Sentinel Fest is a great way to meet up with
old friends. See the new building, grab something to eat from the food trucks and
stick around for the ribbon-cutting. The next chapter of NFC's story isn't just about
what the College builds. It's about what we can build together with our service area.
