Board of Trustees

It is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to establish the policies, in accordance with Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules, by which the mission of the College is accomplished. It is the President’s responsibility to implement these policies through the College administration, faculty and staff.

The North Florida College Board of Trustees is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor: three members are from Madison County; two members are from Suwannee County; and one each from Hamilton, Lafayette, Jefferson and Taylor Counties.

The Board of Trustees is granted authority as a body; no individual Board member may take official action without the consent of the entire Board.

The Board of Trustees conducts open meetings in accordance with Florida’s “Government in the Sunshine Law,” which stipulates that all discussions of college business by two or more Board members must be advertised and open to public attendance.

Board meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The Trustees determine each August the meeting schedule for the coming year.

Notice - Fee Increase Proposal

In compliance with Florida Statute 1009.23, Educational Scholarships, Fees, and Financial Assistance, North Florida College hereby notifies all enrolled students of the institution’s intent to propose the following fee increase to the College’s Board of Trustees: College administration and faculty request the increase of the current course fee for SLS 1103 (Student Life Skills) from $10 to $25. The proposal will be made at the monthly NFC District Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for November 17, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. The course materials for SLS 1103 are published by LUMEN; the publisher has terminated its offering of the original course materials and has moved to an updated product that provides a more interactive experience for students which includes personalized learning geared to increase student engagement and success. All LUMEN course products are now $25. This course material fee increase keeps the SLS 1103 course in the “low cost” category for textbook affordability at NFC; additionally, using the LUMEN product guarantees student access to the materials on day one of the semester. No additional resources will be required for student purchase related to SLS 1103.
