Associate in Science Degree - Accounting Technology

The A.S. Degree in Accounting Technology is a two-year program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to further their education and build careers in accounting. Two tracks are offered to accommodate students who either

(1) seek immediate employment in the field of Accounting and/or

(2) plan to transfer to a Florida public university as a junior to complete a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Instruction in this program provides a balanced curriculum of general education and accounting-related subjects. Additionally, college credit certificate program options are embedded within the degree and can be taken individually or as building blocks to the A.S. degree.
Program Learning Outcomes
  1. Students will demonstrate the ability to prepare and communicate financial information in accordance with the appropriate rules and regulations that govern reporting.
  2. Students will demonstrate the ability to use technology to retrieve, organize, critically evaluate and/or present information from a variety of sources in conveying financial information to internal and external users
  3. Students will demonstrate the ability to appropriately utilize channels of communication in a business environment
  4. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the business environment and how it is impacted by world events.
  5. Students will demonstrate an understanding of core and supportive business functions

ONLINE Degree Option

Students may now complete the A.S. in Accounting Technology completely ONLINE. The online degree offers flexibility and opportunities to those looking for an online program.

College Credit Certificates

NFC offers three short-term Accounting Technology college credit certificates. These certificate programs can be completed in one year or less. They can be taken individually or used as building blocks while completing the A.S. Degree in Accounting Technology.

Accounting Technology Management

27 Credit Hours: Designed to prepare students with the technical knowledge and skills associated with entry-level accounting positions or supplemental training for those currently or previously employed within the field. Teaches the principles, theories and concepts in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including preparation of governmental tax forms and in the analysis of financial information for decision making within organizations.

Accounting Technology Operations

18 Credit Hours: Designed to prepare students with the technical knowledge and skills associated with entry-level accounting positions or supplemental training for those currently or previously employed within the field. Teaches the principles, theories and concepts in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and in the analysis of financial information for decision making within organizations.

Accounting Technology Specialist

12 Credit Hours: The purpose of this program is to prepare students with the technical knowledge and skills associated entry-level accounting positions or supplemental training for those currently or previously employed within the field. Teaches data entry of accounting information and the preparation, presentation and analysis of business reports.
