Professional Licensure Disclosures

Nursing Programs (RN, LPN, CNA)

Successful completion of nursing programs at North Florida College (Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant) prepares graduates to take examination for licensure/certification. Achievement of a passing score on this exam and registration with the Florida Board of Nursing enables graduates to seek employment in the area for which they have been educated. Graduates not residing in Florida are eligible to take examinations in the state in which they reside and register with the board of nursing in that state.  North Florida College has made reasonable efforts to determine whether our nursing programs meet the licensure/certification requirements in other states.  Due to continual curriculum and programmatic updates in nursing education, we are unable to determine licensure requirements with certainty in states other than Florida. Updated contact information for State Boards of Nursing is provided to all nursing program candidates during the application process.

Emergency Medical Services Programs

Successful completion of the EMT and Paramedic programs at North Florida College prepares graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam.  The National Registry is recognized in every state and is required in 47 states to be eligible for licensure. Graduates not residing in Florida are eligible to take examinations in the state in which they reside and register with the division of EMS in that state.  Please visit the NREMT.org website for an interactive map of states in which the NREMT is required for initial state licensure. Public Safety Programs

Successful completion of the Public Safety Programs at North Florida College (Law Enforcement/Corrections/Crossover to Law Enforcement) prepares graduates to challenge the State Officer Certification Exam for certification in the program taken. Achievement of a passing score on this exam administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, governed by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, enables graduates to seek Florida employment in the area for which they are certified. Graduates who obtain Florida certification in law enforcement and/or corrections who relocate to and/or state seek law enforcement or correctional certification in another state, must contact the law enforcement/correctional certification authority in that state to determine the procedure/process for obtaining certification. Due to continual curriculum and programmatic updates in training, we are unable to determine certification requirements with certainty in states other than Florida.
