Hazing Statement
NFC Hazing Transparency Report
Federal requirements established by the Stop Campus Hazing Act require all colleges and universities to prepare and publish public hazing incident transparency reports. These reports are intended to ensure compliance, raise awareness, and prevent future harm by preparing clear documentation of hazing incidents on campus. North Florida College strongly supports this requirement as we believe transparency aids in educating students of the risks and culpability associated with hazing violations.

NFC Hazing Policy
North Florida College (NFC) promotes a healthy, safe environment for learning for staff and students while working and attending college. Individual students, student organizations, and staff play a vital role in providing opportunities for friendship, leadership, and personal growth. Hazing of any kind will not be allowed and is conflicting to these values and is illegal in Florida; therefore, NFC clearly prohibits hazing activities, whether individually or in concert with others, and shall:
- Implement prevention strategies to raise awareness and prevent hazing;
- Include statistics for hazing incidents in the Annual Security Report and publicize this information on the NFC website; (Hazing statistics will become available in the Annual Security Report beginning with the 2026 Report.)
- Disseminate this policy and applicable local and state hazing laws on the NFC website.
- Compile a Campus Hazing Transparency Report and publish it on the NFC website; (Coming December 2025)
Reporting and Processing Alleged Hazing Violations
All hazing alleged violations, including incident reporting, investigations, disciplinary
actions, and appeals adhere to the protocols outlined in the NFC Student Code of Conduct.
Consent
Because of the socially powerful nature of hazing, suggested or conveyed consent by
anyone to hazing will not be a defense under this policy.
Definition
For the purpose of this policy, hazing is defined as any intentional, knowing, or
reckless act committed by a person, whether individually or in concert with others,
against another person or persons, regardless of the willingness of such other person
or persons to participate. This act must be committed in connection with pledging,
being initiated into, affiliating with, holding office in, participating in, or maintaining
membership in any organization associated with any NFC campus. Hazing includes acts
that cause or create a risk of physical or psychological injury, humiliation, intimidation,
or demeaning the person or persons, beyond the reasonable risk encountered during
participation in the NFC organization. Hazing also includes soliciting, directing,
aiding, or otherwise participating actively or passively in the above acts.
