Reimagined space at the Colin P. Kelly Fitness and Wellness Center puts student well-being
at the center of the college experience
MADISON, FL –North Florida College will celebrate the reopening of its newly renovated and rebranded
Wellness Suite on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Colin P. Kelly
Fitness and Wellness Center, introducing a refreshed space designed to help students
slow down, recharge and connect.
The reopening reflects NFC's continued focus on supporting the whole student. College
life can bring academic pressure, busy schedules, work and family responsibilities,
and the Wellness Suite offers students an intentional place on campus to step away
from those demands, even if only for a few minutes.
"We wanted to create a space where students feel like they have permission to pause,"
said Melanie Morgan, Director of Student and Community Engagement. "Student success
isn't only about what happens in the classroom. Sometimes you need a quiet place to
reset, something healthy to eat, a creative outlet or simply a chance to connect with
someone. The Wellness Suite brings all of those things together in a space that feels
welcoming and belongs to our students."
Building success starts with taking care of yourself.
That idea helped shape the renewed Wellness Suite and its new identity. The rebranding
creates a warmer, more recognizable home for wellness within the Fitness and Wellness
Center while reinforcing a simple message: taking care of your mental, emotional and
physical well-being is an important part of being successful in college.
“Supporting our students means recognizing all of the things that contribute to their
ability to succeed,” said Lynn Wyche, Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services.
“Wellness is an increasingly important part of the student experience, and we want
our students to know that their well-being matters at NFC. The Wellness Suite is a
welcoming space where students can pause, connect, recharge, and take care of themselves.
By supporting the whole student, we hope to help them feel more confident, resilient
and ready to move forward in the classroom and in life.”
The renovated space offers comfortable areas to sit and relax, spaces to connect with
others, wellness-focused activities, games, creative outlets, healthy snacks and beverages,
and opportunities to simply unplug from the day. The goal is to make wellness approachable
and accessible, whether a student has 10 minutes between classes or needs a quiet
place to reset.
Rather than defining wellness in only one way, the Suite encourages students to discover
what helps them recharge. For one student, that might mean enjoying a cup of tea in
a quiet corner. For another, it could mean playing a game with friends, working on
a craft, grabbing a healthy snack or simply finding a comfortable place to sit and
take a break.
The new branding carries that philosophy through the message "Find Your Chill," inviting
students to make the space their own and build small moments of wellness into their
everyday campus experience.
NFC students, employees and community members are invited to explore the renewed space
during the Aug. 26 reopening celebration.
Guests can tour the newly renovated Wellness Suite while enjoying specialty juices
and healthy snacks. Free custom NFC embroidered tote bags will also be available while
supplies last. At 11:30 a.m., NFC alumnus and motivational speaker Michael Norwood,
BSN, will share an inspiring presentation. At noon, NFC Agribusiness Instructor Kylie
Campbell will lead Plant Bingo, giving participants a chance to win plants while picking
up simple tips for keeping them healthy and thriving.
The reopening celebration is designed to reflect what the Wellness Suite itself is
all about: Relax. Recharge. Connect.
The NFC Wellness Suite Reopening will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. at the Colin P. Kelly Fitness and Wellness Center, 325 NW Turner Davis Drive
in Madison. Students and community members are invited to attend.
