MADISON, FL – North Florida College is expanding career training opportunities with the launch of a new Electrician Program, powered by a Workforce CAP (Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program) grant. The program is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled electricians across the region while providing students with a clear pathway from entry-level training to advanced career readiness.

The program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed for success in the electrical trade. Starting with foundational coursework as an Electrician Helper, students can build their skills toward working as a Residential Electrician and then advance into Commercial and Industrial Electrician training.

“Students will be able to start and learn the basic skills to be an electrician helper, build on those skills to work as a residential electrician and then learn skills in the Commercial and Industrial Electrician courses,” said Dean of Workforce and Economic Initiatives and Chief Academic Officer David Dunkle. “This pathway is structured to help students enter the workforce quickly while still providing opportunities to advance their careers through additional training.”

NFC President Jennifer Page praised the program as another example of NFC’s commitment to preparing students for in-demand careers. “The Workforce CAP grant allows us to offer meaningful, skills-based training that benefits both our students and our community. This Electrician Program provides high-quality instruction that leads to real job opportunities in a field that is essential to our region’s growth.”

Guided by Florida Department of Education curriculum frameworks, the program emphasizes safety, applied technical knowledge, and practical training. Students will gain experience in wiring, electrical codes and troubleshooting while developing the professional competencies employers seek.

Enrollment details and program start dates will be announced soon. Those interested in learning more about NFC’s Electrician Program should contact the Kim Scarboro, Director of Career & Workforce Education at 850-973-9470 or visit www.nfc.edu
