MADISON, FL — North Florida College offers a Dual Enrollment program that allows students to earn college credits while still in high school and at no cost.

The NFC Office of Dual Enrollment is proud to feature outstanding Sentinels who are nominated by their respective high school guidance counselors.

For May, NFC spotlights Jesus Martinez Gregorio from Hamilton County High School in Jasper, Florida. He took a moment in between his high school and NFC commitments to respond to our interview:

Why did you choose to dual enroll at NFC?
This was an opportunity I could not pass as it allows me to further my education at the college level, while still in high school.

Which class have you enjoyed the most at NFC?
I really enjoyed my psychology class as it opened a new perspective on how people think and deal with things.

How is NFC helping you reach your goals?
NFC is allowing me to get closer to getting a degree with no out-of-pocket expenses. Furthering my education is a big step in achieving my dreams in the future.

What are your goals after high school?
My goal after high school would be to complete my AA degree and figure out my major in the process. I wish to transfer to Valdosta State and finish my studies there.

Who at NFC has inspired you the most?
I would say Mrs. McCullers, my professor for English I. She was an amazing teacher in my opinion and always pushed me towards thinking more critically. She taught me that my work could always be better, and she was always so understanding.

One word to describe your Dual Enrollment experience:
Rewarding. Although I didn’t take lots of classes, I know that each class I took was a step closer towards getting a degree.

NFC offers dual enrollment to students in Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, and Taylor counties. A new dual enrollment student is featured each month, and previous recipients can be found on NFC’s website here: https://www.nfc.edu/academics/dual-enrollment/student-of-the-month.php.
