Revels, author and Professor of History at Wofford College, to the NFCC campus on Sunday, Nov. 12 for an author presentation and book signing in the NFCC Student Center beginning at 2:30 p.m. Revels will share insight into her new book on Florida history, “Florida's Civil War: Terrible Sacrifices.” All are invited to attend. Admission is free.

Revels has a Doctorate of Philosophy in History from Florida State University and specializes in Southern History, 19th Century American History and Women’s History. She is a Madison County native and a 1983 graduate of NFCC. This will be Revels’ second author presentation at NFCC. She gave a presentation on her book “Grander in Her Daughters: Florida’s Women During the Civil War” in March 2015.

A true tale of survival, ingenuity and opportunism, “Florida's Civil War" highlights the diverse experiences of Florida's population - "Whether Confederate or Unionist, free or slave, male or female, no Floridian could escape the war's impact." A concise narrative of life on the home front, the book explores how Floridians endured the war. The story of Florida's Civil War is complex and dramatic, and this work recognizes the sacrifices made by all Floridians.

With featured author Dr. Tracy J. Revels being an alumna of NFCC, the College has included this event among its 60th anniversary celebration activities. To find out more, visit www.nfc.edu/60 or contact NFCC College Advancement at 850-973-1613 or news@nfc.edu.
