Quality Enhancement Plan - Engage for Success<
2015-2020

The purpose of the NFC Quality Enhancement Plan, Engage for Success, is to improve the academic success of students enrolled in gateway courses defined at NFC as, Freshman English I – ENC 1101 and Intermediate Algebra – MAT 1033. The plan provides academic support combined with the teaching of active learning strategies in order to increase student engagement. Student engagement is defined as class participation, appropriate use of technology, and use of Academic Success Center services. The plan’s two major components are designed to meet two program goals and three student learning outcomes. Read the entire QEP here.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. With the improvement of student engagement defined as class participation, appropriate use of technology, and use of Academic Success Center services, the College will increase the percentage of students who successfully complete ENC 1101 to 80 % and MAT 1033 to 75%. 2. ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 faculty will incorporate active learning strategies within their respective courses.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will demonstrate effective class participation.
  2. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will use applicable technology resources effectively.
  3. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will use the academic support and learning services provided by the College.
